Another free eBook, coming your way!

WOW.

That's all I can say about the overwhelming response I got to last week's post on goal-setting.

So many of you have shared your top three 30-day goals with me and the other members of the "IMC Insider" community.

And that's exciting, because it means a lot of you are serious about taking your business to the next level.

BUT: As I mentioned in today's IMC Insider newsletter, when I was analyzing your goals over the weekend, I noticed a specific problem with a lot of your businesses -- particularly if you're just starting out.

And I'm willing to bet LARGE amounts of money that this problem is exactly what's preventing some of you from achieving the kind of success you're hoping for.

I know this problem very well -- in fact, it's #1 reason why people FAIL with their online businesses!

That's why I've decided to give away another free eBook later this week.

My team and I recently wrote an eBook that outlines a solution to that problem in detail. And I want you to have this information -- so you can put it to work for your business right away... and get rid of that problem for good!

I'm still working on getting the eBook ready for giveaway. (I have to set up the download page and get my Ops team to generate user name and passwords for you. Not to mention, convert it into a PDF for all you Mac users out there.) But it should be ready for delivery on Thursday.

So make sure you keep an eye on your inbox! I want you to start putting this eBook's valuable information to work for your business right away.

In the meantime, I want you to do a bit of "critical thinking"...

I've been talking about the #1 problem many of you currently face with your business. What exactly do you think that problem IS?

(And no, it's not simply that your site isn't making any money... it's the reason WHY your site isn't making any money.)

If you have any ideas on what that problem might be, leave a comment and let me know! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Hello Derek,

Great idea! What about including a goal setting software?

Hi Derek,

I think that the biggest challenge we face is creating a list because after all "the money is in your list"

Hello Derek,

Another fantastic newsletter, I am truly impressed! I used to be confident in the fact that Dan Kennedy was the best marketing "Guru" out there, but I have a feeling you are going to shake his tower :-)

The goal setting points were great and being a life and career coach, I can only agree that goal setting is fundamental to achieving success.

Keep up the good work!

Great newsletter - the link to the entrepreneur club forum was awesome.

How do I get my sight reviewed like that guy? We really need to make our landing page better and some step by step help like that would be awesome.

Not sure what to put in here...I have several domain names registered with GoDaddy, but don't have the actual web page/site yet. Isn't this where you help me get this done?? I am refering to URL box

I believe the problem is getting and staying focused on our goals. We get side tracked so easy in this business, especially with newsletter subscriptions and all the information overload. The major challenge I face is focusing. Focusing on the most important tasks down to the little no brainers. Seeing the big picture and having congruent goals with that picture is difficult. Setting specific, realistic, reachable goals that ultimately lead up to that big picture that we all visualize each night and then consistently working on those goals without fail. Staying on target and staying focused.
there's my 2 cents...

I think there is truth in everyone's comments - I also must add that the mindset with which you create your "Sales Letter, Newsletter, website" etc is a key factor - if you believe confidently that what you are doing is in the best interest of the receiver - that is when magic happens - the receiver will feel just that, when they read your piece and respond favourably. If your focus is purely on "how much money will I make or something that is negative" then the receiver will feel that also and not give you a "positive response"

Clear strategies & regular persuance should do the job.It is good planning -hard work - team work - associating with the best in the industry - avoiding big talk of all those who just claim but have nothing to show as their achievements.

I would think that the no.1 problem is getting enough visitors to your site with a real interest in your product. Then no.2 would be getting them to buy. Its easy to tell them what you do - its so much harder as the owner of the site to step back and be able to tell them why they should buy.
Be interested to know if I'm close!

Derek, Your email today mentioned doing product research. I've spent thousands of dollars on coaching on setting up ebay and web businesses. I have the tools to do product research, and still come to the conclusion that I'm selling the same overmarketed junk that's already being sold all over the internet. My coach led me to worldwidebrands.com, which I already knew about. But when I do product research on those suppliers' products, the prices are not competitive with what's already out there, without buying pallet-loads of products. He then led me to whatdoisell.com. I thought I'd look at the book. Look it up on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/What-Sell-eBay-Where-Get/dp/0072262788/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7936010-9195267?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177547356&sr=1-1
Check out the top-rated review of the book. I was the 195th person to agree with that review, and that was about two months ago. It's now up to 338. Up till now, all product sourcing roads have led to worldwidebrands.com, and that product sourcing resource appears to be saturated. Without competing in shark-infested waters of an oversaturated market, I would be attempting to corner the market in left-handed timber stretchers, or something equally obscure. How about answering the product sourcing question of 1) finding what people really want, 2) where to get it, and 3) at a profit margin that I can actually produce positive cash flow with.

Derek,
I always look forward to your newsletter. I am new to the business. I quit my day job to pursue online marketing, luckily I have a "personal tour guide" to help me along. Then I met you and now I have a 3-5 year plan. I am now working smarter towards what I really want. Luckily I already have a site making money and a product that has been researched. But the advice is priceless. I find myself reading your e-mail first!!

Hey Derek,

I know I have a great Product, and I also get plenty of traffic, but I can't seem to get very many sales.

Can you help me in any way to learn how to pinpoint my market?

Hi Derek,

I'm looking forward to the free ebook.

I have a business which does "OK" but its difficult to compete when there are so many other similar ventures out there.

How do I cut though all the others and make mine shine?

There's a quote that goes like this

"If you fail to plan you plan to fail". I have just learn't that lesson the hard way.

After attending the Sydney bootcamp, I jumped straight into developing a new IMC affiliate website without doing the correct planning. Of course, it did't work.

This year, I have revisted "Insider Secrets" course and watch the bootcamp videos. I am currently setting up a detailed plan using some business planning software. I plan redo my site and relaunch in July.

I have joined the forum which is very helpful.

My biggest problem is that I don't know where to start. I have the infrastructure, the know-how, but the first, second and third step is just missing. I can do almost anything I want to do but making money online is the problem. What do I do?

I would strongly suspect that the primary issue is that of focus on a few very specific goals rather than having so many there is no way to really achieve much on any of them.

I've learned the hard way, as most of us do, that having a small set of goals that I'm really focused on and getting them done (I love check marks) is the best key to being successful in business.

It's particularly easy in the internet marketing game to get sidetracked on every new "miracle solution" out there. This is practically a guarantee that you will fail and won't make money.

Focus, focus, focus

Hi Derek, staff, fellow bloggers,

One thing is certain, the internet system of doing business is a place of opinions, contradictions, and counterdictions. I respect what you are now doing, and I for one hope to see this project expand to an absolute program that eventually concretes as a one stop marketing center. Why did Henry Ford succeed? Why is Subway successful? Why did A&W Root Beer fail as a food chain? What drives a market? What kills a market? Who determines the success of a product? A service? Who creates a winning system that survives for decades? There are many answers, and many opinions. The truth is however, a combination of things, a plan is a good place to start, setting goals, and putting objectives in place to reach the goals is certainly a benefit. Perseverance. Attitude. Timing. Money. Brains. Determination. Consideration. Dedication. Focus. Ahhh! Focus. Why do some succeed and others fail, or rest in mediocrity? Perhaps the product is junk. Perhaps the marketing is not. Perhaps promotion is not. Perhaps I am not.

I believe for a product to sell profitably several ingredients are required. The product itself must fill a want or need (whether real or perceived). The product must be marketed in a manner such that it reaches the masses, whether by shotgun (the broad approach to the masses) or by rifle (the direct, single shot approach to a specific market/buyer). And it must deliver a "bang for the buck". Whether we sell the sizzle-"wow, someone's barbecueing!", or the steak, "Now here's a great cut of meat on sale!", or both-"Check this out, tri-tip is on sale for two bucks a pound, and what a great cut of meat! Can you just smell that on the Barbie, WOW, just taste it!"

The truth s some stuff is junk and will never sell, some people will never get it right and should find another way to make a living, which leaves those with a saleable/profitibale product and the ability to properly merchandise/market it.

Now what? A roadmap. We need a roadmap. Ok! Where's that? Well, perhaps right here in Derek's blog. IMC has the KPA (knowledge. preparation. application)and the track record to be a reliable source for informational success. Ok, we get the info, now what? KPA. Always gather the required KNOWLEDGE. Properly PREPARE that KNOWLEDGE so that it can and will be purposely APPLIED. KPA. Medical school. Graduation. Internship. Pratice.

Building a proper foundation, an adaquate launch platform, and a heat seeking missle all require KPA. Want a beautiful bed of roses? KPA. Want to be in the I-Net business? KPA.

I see here a perfect opportunity to work with the Gehl Force and creata the roadmap to success, right here, right now.

Sharing, sharing, sharing. A good place to start. Goals are awesome once we know how to set them, what they are to be, how to nurture and implement them with the intent of bringing to life the business/personal embryo embedded therein.

What if we all throw our needs on the table and within the Gehl Force create a master plan that is easily structured and adaptable to our own business profile? One that we can snatch up and program to use our way on our time, and that covers the pieces, parts, and information we NEED for KPA to simply and directly create an I-Business. I'm in.
PS: Perhaps we will be known as the Gehl Force.

BestOfTheDay to you all, Chuck
Should you choose to corespond with me, crn@thebestdealofyourlife.com, put Gehl Force in the subject line so I know the email.

Thank you for the free Three Foolproof Strategies You Can Use To Make Money Online eBook and especial thanks for providing the special PDF version for we MAC USERS! :-)

It's after midnight here in the UK so I'll read it later when I'm awake. It has come at a good time because I just decided to create a second business that will complement my existing one.

Thanks for the free e-books! I 'lost' the How To Increase Your Online Traffic book because I couldn't remember who had sent it. I was upset as i was getting so much out of it. Your second free e-book offer alerted me that you were the source of the original generous gift and I was so relieved! Losing it made me see how much I valued the information it contains. Thanks! Alice

PS I want to print the e-book to study it better and I can't get it to print in greyscale which is a waste of a lot of coloured ink. Is that just how it is?

cheers, Alice

Hi Derek

Thank you for the free ebook, i am enjoying it and hopefully i can give you some positive feed back.

Derek, the Newsletter is fantastic and I have seen you in action and know from first hand you live what you preace and I respect you for that. By the way I'm the guy that crashed your dinner party back in November 2006 when you brought the Boot Camp to Toronto. The free eBook is truly a gift and I thank you for that as well and I don't see any others offering that kind of support. Hats off to IMC. I believe there are two problem areas one is impatience and the other is concentration or the firm ability to focus. There is just so much going on that it can be over whelming. I started online on November 1st 2006 but began collecting information as far back as January 2006. I know I'm doing certain things right some numbers bear me out but not all. I began to advertise with Google this past March and have been receiving terrific traffic but no conversion. I know I have good products because they are yours I'm IMC Affiliate. As an example of the two problems I pointed out besides the free eBook I also have eBook Pro which I have yet to finish my Internet business comes first above all else but for me there are not enough hours in any day to complete everything I begin.

Derek, thank you for also making this a PDF. I was very frustrated I could not even see the last eBook because .exe's don't work on Macs...

I don't have a url yet.nor a website.I have four books
and need to know how to market them. and build a website.thanks for the info.very helpful.

I have enjoyed what I have read. and thank again for all that information.
wm dixon

I agree with the content of the ebook. The market is vital, and trying to appeal to that market, rather than make a product to appear to a broad market will only cause problems.

Narrow and defined means you have focus, you can concentrate, and you are going to see new product opportunities, products that will go well in that market, rather than scan the whole gambit of markets and products.

Sticking to it is probably the challenge, but then again actually doing something is perhaps more important, I see most people get stuck at market, and product, maybe even building a site, and start promoting, but in that there is a whole area for people to consider. Adwords, SEO, offline marketing and so on. Again having a narrow niche market helps you to win, since you become an expert/authority in the field you enter.

Derek,

As usual your ability to put into words exactly the right thing at the right time is uncanny. Your contebt is just what I needed. Thank you for all you do.

Becky

I could not find the sign in details I needed to be able to get into the ebook. I thank you for your assistance with this. And thank you so much for this ebook and the last one. The last one was very good indeed but I was not able to use wordtracker. I am not sure if others have difficulty also.

How can I be like yourself Derek even though all the information you're giving me is useful?

Hi Derek

Thanks for the newsletters and in particular the Ebooks.

I've got what I hope will be a useful tip for you :-)

I imagine I'm not the only person who has downloaded many articles and Ebooks that I have never got around to reading :-}

However, I now have a PDA - which I'm very pleased with and which I take around with me most of the time. I find there are lots of times; waiting at the doctors, or for a train or whatever; when I can dip into some reading matter.

I tried loading your Ebook into my PDA, but to no avail..

I have since discovered that I can download the pdf version and having installed a pdf reader - can now read them on my PDA.

My suggestion is that you bring this to folks' attention as a possibility - rather than marking the pdf only for the attention of Mac users.

I sincerely hope this is of use - I'd like to think I'm able to give something back..

All the best
Robin

Thank you for the free e-book but I find it difficult to read from the monitor. I like to download two pages per sheet and print it that way double sided. Saves acres of paper and storage etc. 64 pages = 16 sheets!
Your software will not allow me to do this as it will only do one page per sheet on one side. The free offer is null and void for me. Is there any way I can get round this quirk! Deidre G

Be sure to check out our independent review of your products.

Thanks alot for the free e-book, Derek. It really put the information I needed into a context I could fully understand and relate to, something most people don't take the time to do. I really hope to read more of your material. Thanks for the PDF version too.( I was freaking out when the downloadable version wouldn't work for me. )

Derek, thank you!

You never seem to amaze me. With all the other guys only interested in getting my money, I really believe that your true intention is to help me, and others, create successful businesses online. I am grateful to you because of how much you care. I mean, you are so confident about your book that you would give it away for FREE. We should all be that concerned with our customers.

Derek, you inspire me to do more for my visitors and subscribers.

Derek, you are the best!!!

Detail within our goals is important uh... and having them out in front of us every day, every day.

Hello Derek,
This is Doug Barger.
I really like the ebook.
For anyone struggling with traffic your tips are a good place to go and I especially like the
http://www.freetraffic.tk
website. It actually generates 500 Unique Visitors per hour on autopilot after it's set up. That's amazing.
Much Success,
Doug Barger

I just downloaded the book. I look forward to the contents, since our webstore is going nowhere.

My stagnation is completely my own doing. I loved your post about coming up with three stretch goals in 30 days. And it will help even if I don't meet them just because it's breaking me out of my "analysis paralysis." I have too much information that I think I have to read and memorize before I start, which is silly. I need to take the first step towards my destiny.

Hi Derek,

Hello Derek,

I'm Gyorgy from Hungary.

My greatest problem (apart from the fact that no one wants to do online business here and I need to advertise back to your people) is that the web is full of scams - last months I had too very well thought out campaigns using even the Vatican, which I luckily did not fall for. Have you got a good advice as to how to spot fake programmmes on the net?

In general, thank you for your frankness and desire to help others.

Im am an alternative medicne practitioner.

Thank you

Hi Derek,
Again a fantastic work.
I've gone through it and loved every bit of information provided in such a a concise manner.
Thanks again.
Though,I'd like to see a book/report where you can cover a step by step promotional set up of a newly formed business, since every information available targets already seasoned or pro marketers.Since you are a few who constantly are putting in efforts for the newcomers, this type of an ebook/report will be of immense help, as this is really not available and while starting out, people don't have any clue as to where he can invest. Your recommendations will be very handy at that juncture.
Wishing you and your team all the best and hope you pay attention to my suggestions as always.
Regards, SomPurna.

Hi, Derek,

Thank You Derek for your SUPPORT!

I heard you were giving away something special for the lucky three Headline Reviews, Here it goes:

1.Believe From Within

2.Can I give my cash and shares directly to charity?

3.Why should I invite others?

4. What if I want to quit?

Coming up with an original business idea. I think I get how to market it, but I don't have a great "it". Please HELP!!!!!

Okay, so here are the questions....

What are the top 3 "organic" search engines on the 'Net?

Google, Yahoo, MSN

What are the top 2 "pay-per-click" (PPC) search programs on the 'Net?

Google, Overture

What's the difference between "organic" search and "paid" search?

In organic, you are found by the editorial integrity of your site by a search engine; in paid, you pick the terms and control exactly those terms for which you want people to respond.

What's the difference between Google AdWords and Google AdSense?

AdWords is Google's proprietary advertising service that produces text-only ads on the right hand side of its search results page. All revenues from AdWords ads that show on Google go to Google.

AdSense is Google's syndication program for its AdWords ads. Any AdWords ads that are syndicated out to third party website do so via Google's AdSense program.

AdWords are the ads.

AdSense is the syndication program

What's a "keyword" and why is it important for search marketing?

A Keyword is the name of your product of service that relates to searches on the Internet that are relevant to your website. A Keyword is defined by the top-level word that is most relevant to your business. If you own a stamp store, "stamps" might be the keyword for your market.

This is important because the search engines place much importance on the links that point to your site.

Which of the following is the most effective search marketing strategy?
1. Participating in a "link exchange" with other web site owners (aka "reciprocal links")

2. Submitting articles to the 'Net's top directories, with links in the articles pointing back to your site

3. Paying for links on "link farm" pages that have links pointing to many different pages on the 'Net .

Answer, Participating in "reciprocal links (1) because your cost is very low and as people visit other, related sites, they are referred, at NO CHARGE, to your site.

Entry to your seo contest! :)

1. Google, MSN, Yahoo
2. Google, and Yahoo Search Marketing
3. "Organic" is natural rankings on a search engine, through keyword optimization, and "paid" is the advertising for keywords you can buy on a search engine.
4. AdWords are ads on Google's search results pages. You can pay Google to get traffic to your site from these Ads. AdSense is Google's syndication program - relevant ads on other sites, that the siteowner can earn money FROM Google for each click to the AdSense Ads on their page
5. A keyword is a term entered by a search engine user. Organic rankings for a keyword (or keyphrase) are important to drive free traffic to a site. If a page on your site is optimized well for a certain keyword, you may have the search engines send you visitors interested in that keyword.
6. Quality
7. (2)

Everything that I read and use from IMC is great and helpful. I have to agree with most of the previous comments. Each has its own merits. Overall I am seeing that most need is a mini mentoring session that you do that would apply to their own personal help to get them over there next hurtle. I need to understand why so many hits over the past 5-6 months with 0, THATS ZERO calls or emails response. I know it works because of the first 2-3 months I had several jobs. It is like noone can email me. Black listed maybe because of a static ip?????? The other is automation. I hope that someone can help with this problem. It is really getting to me. Thabks for all of your great help to finding those most helpful tools. Shannon

answers:
1. Google, Yahoo, MSN
2. Google yahoo
3. organic listings do not pay to the search engine
4.adwords are used to advertise your own stuff.
Adsense are google ads you host on your site and earn money if visitors to your site click on them
5.Word which a searcher uses which he believes will get him info he searchs for
6. quality
7. submitting articles

why my site isn't making any money? because right after I decided I'll be on this business, I started procrastinatin'. that's why.

You have convinced me you are one of the ones to trust and listen to.

thank you for you welcome letter and offering the free ebook, but i never received that follow-up email..thank you for reading my email, have a great day....rodney bushart

I have just bought the ebook pro software and have begun collection info, it is straight forward and I feel I can do it, but I still do not have the tools to sell the book, meaning I need to get the word out there. That is my next step. Open to suggestions.

The main reason a website is not making money because we don't understand what your customers' wants and what the market want. Maybe what we have is not suitable for your market or customers? We need to identify Unique Selling Proposition and niche market to deliver the products or services. We call this "Pull Marketing"

3. I saw some stuffs about online survey, what do you think about that? Is it a good business?

4. And finally, I'm a Nigerian based in Nigeria and want to do a legitimate business, how do I pay for things online and how do people pay me. Please I need information on these things.
