Magic Beans?

February 12, 2008

"There ain’t no such thing as magic beans"

In my most recent training video, I say there are three things you need to bring to the table, if you want to make a business that makes real money online.

These qualities are: ACTION, DEDICATION, AND PERSEVERANCE.

(If you haven’t yet watched my free 30-minute instructional video, ‘Reality 101′,
you can view it here: www.marketingtips.com/reality101 )

I’ve discovered that’s not something everyone wants to hear.

Some people don’t want to be told that making an online business will require some hard work on their part.

They want to hold on to their belief that there’s a "magic bean" solution that’ll help them instantly sprout a successful profit-generating website in just a few hours.

… And I wonder, is that because so many false promises are being tossed around the Internet marketing arena these days? Or do so many people really believe that building a "virtual" business involves virtually no work at all?

Do you believe that?

Is that what you’re looking for — a business that requires zero effort on your part?

I really want to know.

So what I’d like to hear from you is, exactly WHY are you interested in starting an online business?

(As opposed to all the thousands of other possible businesses out there.)

What do you hope to gain from your Internet business? What are your goals?

Please leave me a comment and let me know!

I got interested in starting an online business because I don’t have the money to rent a “real” store or buy a franchise. Not to mention hire staff, pay overhead, etc. etc. etc.

Based on whath I’ve read I think I can start a business online for only a few hundred dollars as opposed to thousands and thousands. I hope that’s true.

I’m willing to put lots of work into my business and work around the clock for weeks and weeks if necessary. If theres one thing I’m not it’s LAZY. But I need to have some assurance that all those hours of work won’t be a waste of time. I need to know that if I follow those four steps you talked about Derek, I really will have a business at the end of it. A business that gives me the kind of money I need to survive on.

I dont need mllions, I’m not greedy. If I could have a business that makes me a few thousand a month I would the happiest person on earth.

My motivation for having an online business is location, location, location. Mine not the business. I want to be able to run my business no matter where in the world (on whatever beach) I might be at the time.

  3. Murtaza on February 12th, 2008 2:10 pm

Dear Derek, U ask: WHY are you interested in starting an online business?

Well, Before I give U a detail…I WANT TO SHOUT ” THERE IS NO SUCCESS WITHOUT HARD-WORK EVEN IF IT IS SMART-WORK”.

I personally feel that in whatever field one have to do HARD-WORK at start-up. But once it’s set-up in certain TIME and way then money is generating from those efforts. And you start to earn from it for a long with your credibility and better service to the customer.

E.g. My Site: www.talkways.net is current example. I help people to promote Voip services by reselling calling credit online. I have to constantly watch my existing customers’ need and of course have to full-fill them on time…I do enjoy to HELP them.

A F S Goal is concerned, I usually have ONE GOAL at start-up. TRY TO GIVE better service to anyone WHO NEEDS YOU and YOUR KNOWLEDGE. Gain more and more credibility and have patience. Then you will get better way to make more GOALS on later stage.

What Do you think Derek?…Are You Happy with my comment?

    To Your Better Success…always.
    Murtaza.

    Hi Derek,

For me the attraction of an internet business is the possibility of being able to automate most of it, so I can have more time to enjoy my life. That’s why I bought the Info biz creator product. That’s not to say I’m not prepared to put the work in to get things set up, but I’m hoping it will pay off in the long run. I think I’ve found a Niche in an area I’m interested in and I’m currently working on my ebook. I have to say Derek your coaching (and your team’s) on this program has been top notch!

    Many thanks,

    Michael

    Peace Derek,

I have been trying to start an internet business for the last 2 years. Like so many others, I would invest in a site that promised to help me start my business within days and it never turns out that way. I am unable to work outside of the home and I really need something that is real so that I will have a liveable income stream, that doesn’t require me to invest $100’s or $1,000’s of dollars.
I believe you have something here that can help me, so, here I am.
    Thanks for the chance, Derek.

    Here’s to success.

I am a retired engineer. Have been retired for 5 years and I am bored!!

I tried to setup an internet business and quickly found out that I need more knowledge and a model to emulate.

Give me a good set of plans, specifications and background knowledge and I can build anything!

I have a fairly good retirement but it is limited. In other words, I can exist and do a few things but not most of the things I would like to, plus I have no hedge for inflation. Extra income plus something to keep myself busy is my goal and my motivation.

    Thanks, Ralph

I have been looking into starting a business on the internet for several years. All I have heard or found out during that time are people trying to sell their own product. You are the first to actually come out and say the unheard of cardinal no, no. WORK!! You have to work to set up a firm foundation before you can get your business going. I like that about you. I am extremely interested in what you can show me and I am eager to learn. BUT, I am also scared. I’m not sure why this scares me but I do know that I need something that I can do at home. I am on disability and it just isn’t enough to live on. I Pray that you can help me get my feet firmly planted into a business of my own. I thank you for this chance to really learn the basic in a step by step format.

I want to make money working from anywhere, especially so if I can launch my bussiness with little finance. I also don’t believe the “no work” on my part type of bussiness.
I just hope I can get started with this.

    Hi Derek

First of all thank you for taking the time to consider us (newbies) and our frustrations in starting out. thank you.

One thing before I start my ranting is your video presentation looks amazing however unfortunately I am unable to to watch it as I am still on dial up, can you believe that in some parts of Brisbane, Au, we still can not yet get broadband. Could you if at all re-package the presentation in Low-bandwith.

Now in reply to your question, my goals, my hopes. I like all before am here with a “shoestring” budget and “how long is a piece of string” dreams.

My mission statement is to love all, need nothing, serve all. and to usher all gods children into the www.doorwayoflight.com. (higher consciousness).

    Can you help

    Hi Ara

Here’s a tip.. we get a lot of comments on video (that users don’t have bandwidth)…

The trick is to start the video and then immediately pause it. Go get a coffee and the video will download in the background. After 4-5 minutes, you’ll have a big part of the video downloaded and it will play smoothly.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Derek,

My story is one you must have heard many times before. My attemps at making
money off the internet has turned into failure after failure. Some that I joined could have become successtul had I only known how to market it. Then one day I came accross” Internet Marketing Strategies” and the first step was finding a
niche. Well, I still haven’t found one and I do not know where to start searching.
My husband is retired and I will be soon . We will be living on a fixed income unless I can find something to bring in extra imcome. I am not too savvey technically but I can follow step by step intructions. I am sincerely hoping that your soon to be launched Ebook will have all the answers for me.

As I’ve just bought the 2007 version of the same title pls advise wherther I shud order the 2008 version. I am just at the edge of trying to setup an internet site. I get discouraged when I
read you newsletters and other information you provide. You emphasis again again and again Copy Copy Copy! I am not a writer and never will be just as
1000 ’s of your adherents are not writers. . Your are suggesting you can
create writers where legions of High School English Teachers have failed.
It’s a catch 22. If I had a successful businessI could pay someone to write my copy. But first I must build that business with my own copy??? Help!
I think copy writing is a GIFT which can be developed. Without some talent in
the writer the copy will leave much to be desired. Regards Ted Geary

    Hi Derek,

Great video, I’ve been in the people business all my life in one form or another and your communication skills are first rate! I’ve been a Merchant Marine Captain for the last 30 years in oceans all over the world from crab fishing in Alaska to live-aboard scuba dive ships in the Caribbean and though I love it I’m flat burned out. I’m an artist and I want to have a successful business doing the thing I love selling my portaitures and eventually representing other artists. I’ve built a website but I really need your expert guidance to make it all that it can be. I’m going to have to get back to Alaska in a few months to start hauling hundreds of people every day, 10 hours a day showing them glaciers and whales. It’s a cool job but I really don’t want to do it anymore so I’m praying I can make this work.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Derek,

I would like to start my own business because I have been working retail (long hours, weekends, holidays, and being an employee)almost all my life and I am tired of it!
I feel I have a lot of creative ideas, I am customer oriented person and I love solving people’s problems!
My intention is to create a sourse of income, that I can finally have some quality time with my family, and be able to do things I love!
Working hard is not a problem for me, my biggest challenge, and there is my hesitation, is that I don’t know if I am going to understand everything I am given to do… See, English is my second language, I don’t have a college degree and I am not a computer wizard… I use my computer for everyday communication and that’s it. So I wish somebody could reassure me that your program can really work for dummies!

I have always been a hard worker, but lost everything when my business in Hong Kong failed. After paying back a quarter million in debts I have moved back to my home country Australia where I have no money and no job and four school-age kids. My business failed but I still have my website which gets over 100 hits per day and well over 1000 hits per day if a typhoon approaches Hong Kong. At 61 years old no-one wants to hire me, so I want to find something I can sell to make money out of my website. At the moment it has mainly family, hobbies, weather, and other bits and pieces of unsaleable junk on its 100 or so pages. I still get plenty of emails from people who want me to visit their home or office in HK to fix their computer, which of course, I cannot do.
Your free video, which I just finished watching, gave me some good starting points, so it’s time to roll up my sleeves and see what I can do. And I shall set my alarm to be up at 04:00 am Brisbane time next Wednesday, to see what happens for 300 of us.
    Thanks.

    Hi Derek
I have been looking at the internet for some time now for a sound , reliable mentor to trust who is able to do what he says. Your principal of Action, Dedication and Perseverance to Succeed rang alarm bells for me.
20 years ago I was in a car crash when two cars racing round a bend ran into me head on. At that time I owned a successful small container Co until I was told I would not walk again. The bank called in their chips, my wife left and I spent the next 3 years in a wheelchair, but I never gave up. I had 12 operations a year on a scary Zimmer frame and after 7 years on crutches I was able to walk again. I was then advised to go to a warm climate for the winter period to assist the repair of my ankles. This was fine until a builder next to the property where I was staying left a leaking hose running over the marble stairs leading to my apartment. I Fell down 13 steps and broke my neck which landed me in hospital paralysed until the surgeons performed a 7 1/2 hour operation incerting a 3″ titanium plate to my spine. One week later I had my feelings back and I was able to walk again with the help of a brace fixing my head to my shoulders which I had to keep on for 3 months. When I was allowed to fly back home I decided I would search for an exciting life as they are not succeeding in killing me just yet. For me to fulfill my forever readjusting goals in 2008 with your straight talking of Action , Dedication and Perseverance I think will be a walk in the park compared to my life so far. I look forward to becoming one of your rich students in the near future.

Operational expenses is getting too heavy however, not to mention the time spent away from my family, when I have to travel from one location to another. Hello Derek
I’m newly retired and looking for that income to replace my working income. One of the things I’m a solid believer in is having the ability to give away stuff. So I’ve built and designed my website around that idea. I also believe it’s better to wear ones self out as opposed to rusting out. I believe an empty and bored mind leads to early mental degradation as well as physical deterioration. I choose to no be either of the two.

    Thanks.

  25. John on February 12th, 2008 8:35 pm

    Hey Derek -
I’m not a 4-year university graduate with a fancy piece of paper to classify me. But what I really am is a “street smart” hard worker who has spent alot of my working career in some pretty interesting fields. I’ve started out as a restaurant dishwasher when I was in High School and worked my way through some areas of enetrpise I never thought I’d be in, much less pretty skilled and knowledgeable about from ALOT of hands on experience.

I did spend some time going through a year of Technical School for Electronics and Computer Business Systems which made me realize I hadn’t killed all the right parts of my brain when I was younger man.

I’ve spent the last 11 years of my career path in the Home Theater and Home Automation industry working on everything from infrastructure wiring to the final sytems integrations. I’ve had a blast with it all, right up until I realized my kids are growing up faster than I can fathom.

Okay, I’ll stop the soapbxpox and get to the point, I’m in the internet business realm now to become my own boss, share any knowledge I may have that someone wants, and watch my kids grow in front of me, not awawy from me. I’m looking to be the next I-Millionaire, but if it happens it happens. More than anything, I want to be able to make a living that can be done from anywhere anytime.

Hard work is a given as far as i’m concerned, but that only has to last until you find that groove that produces maximum results with minimum effort. Find what works for you and go with it. when that proves successful and you’re “:bored”, tackle another challenge. It’s a balance to it all.

Your very compelling talk on your 2008 version of Internet Marketing Success was great to listen to.!
I would like to be able to use the Internet to build a sustainable income and I have the time and interest to devote to a project like this. I have some computer skills but not a real lot and I know getting the right niche and marketing it are so critical to its success and need a lot of work to get right.
It would be fabulous to be able to generate a steady income and do this anywhere in the world that I choose.
I plan to listen to your call next Wednesday - 4am Sydney time! Cheers

    Hi Derek,
Thank you for the tips you gave on the video. It really does help me understand more of the strategies.
I really want to make this internet marketing work my husband and I. Since he lost his job 2 yrs ago it has been difficult for us. He could hardly get a decent job that would pay a decent salary and with decent working hours! We ended up in some debts we’d like to pay off and have extra to give to people in need.
We have searched thru the net to find a product but we’re completely new to this so we find it difficult even to start. But we’re really going to put in a lot of effort to make sure we can succeed. I’ve always wondered…. If others can achieve success, why can I?

    Thank you for your guidance.

    Sincerely,
    Melody

I don’t know much computer but find it fascinating and awesome to work with.
Of course, the money capability is tempting but I don’t get tired working hours on end and studying what most of you have to say, free or for a fee. I have spent a fortune and worked very hard and long hours. Studied with the best and tried too
many ventures (my weakness and mistake, I think). I join and then don’t know what to do or how to contact you guys. I have tried many ventures, but the most
difficult are the affiliates. I signed up with many, starting with Shawn Casey, Tellman, and countless others. I just cannot figure out how to work an affiliate.
I prefer an established fully automated website and tried many of those.
Thanks for the tips and training, always learn something from you guys. Magdalena Feb. 12, 2008 -10:00 PM California

It’s helpful to know when to instill a “stop-click” clause on internet biz shopping. After experiencing the low end results using traffic exchanges, safelist mailing, and blaster downloads it’s about time that many face a reality check.

My niche market is a rather unusual one and that is in researching on a needs to benefit relationship for future niche marketing campaigns. Although you stated that the streaming media as all well it does not produce a sale is true however neither does any marketable product when at some given point in time will experience a downward spiral trend if it is not a needs based consumable such as food, lodging, and electric.

I’m more looking at joint venture campaigns that can re-direct their opt-ins on short term activity towards long terms benefits as the niche groups being focused upon. It will require certain analytical research based on a set of givens not known being they don’t currently exist and then examine which will meet the needs for the most to do the most.

The back end is always focused on harmony projects that promote benefits to the most as its sole momentum driver. The marketing tools are basically going to be awareness modules that are downloaded with a purchase.

If you have any ideas along this type of business please let me know and I’ll share the intrinsical components of what makes this type of business work.

Thank you for sharing very helpful information on the video and peace be with all!

not a basic consumable and those aren’t sold on the internet anyway.

  30. Leon on February 12th, 2008 11:02 pm

    Hi Derek

We have been looking into internet busines for some time but have also been snowballed with all the information out there about how to go about it.

Our business has to do with martial arts and sports equipment and clothing although it is not just limited to that. It is something which we are doing on the sideline as we still have dayjobs at the moment. I believe that going into business in the field where your passion lies is important as you will be able to put all your energy into the business.

There are 2 main reasons why an internet based business appeals to us. The first is the cost of setting it up and running the business as opposed to setting up a proper shop. In today’s society the internet is the biggest marketing tool and we want to make use of the full power of the net to get our name out there and sell our quality products and promote our company. The other reason is the ‘portability’ of an internet based business. You can easily communicate with your clients and keep track of what is going on inside the business through internet, e-mail and phone. This way if you are away from your base of operations you can still keep track of what is happening.

Your e-mails and informations are inspiring to all of us. Thank you for the excellent work so far.

    Regards,
    Leon

    Hi Derek,

My mother bought Insiders Secrets a few years ago and I found it (I kinda pinched it from her and have had it for a month or so) I have a website - actually I have bought 4 domain names and have Ideas for sites already.
I will be working on it from this month - I will be setting up time to do it!
My only hassle is this… I live in South Africa and most of the sites, are suggested to make use of Pay Pal and are US or UK based. Now to try to get the money over here, to my bank account from the US is a MISSION! - Whats the point of making money with a site if I can never use it or spend it - other than virtually? Do you have any South African website owners successfully making a living from having website businesses?
Would you be able to give me some more info on them?

    Kindest regards,

    Beverley

I’d like an internet business for two reasons, the first of which is I suddenly find myself divorcing at 40, with no recent work experience on my resume and teenagers to support. I do have a full time job currently, but it can barely pay my mortgage. Second, I’ve lived in Alaska my whole life and I’ve got only a couple of years until the last one is out of school and I’d like to finally be able to travel and fulfill one dream - to sit on a beach for Christmas…ie a take-it-anywhere-business.

    Have laptop, will travel.

PS - Writing is one thing I CAN do, I’ve worked for a small newspaper, I’ve taken technical writing classes, and I’m just OCD enough to be a good editor…where do you sign up to be a travel writer? LOL

Also I have met people with this type of business and it held them captive as they had to be near a computer every day every were they went it seemed to need alot of maintance.
I like the idea and have tried and failed so I understand the value of this system.
I will think hard on it.

    Hi, Derek,

You really hit the nail on the head with your short video. I have been trying on and off for a couple years to be successful at internet marketing, will little success. I now am no longer working a regular “job”, finally got over the stress factor associated with my past employment and need to get serious about making money at home.

I am looking to have multiple streams of income, somehow complementing each other. I have bitten on several marketing products (they had decent sales letters), got something out of each, but most of them are just re-written copies of others floating around out there. I recently found another marketing information video series that I am testing for the producer (at no charge) before he releases it. I have already learned quite a bit and am sure it will help me get my sites to a profitable status. My shortcoming has been finding the right “product” for the masses and getting it in front of the masses. I am well aware that action - dedication and perseverance are important. I and my son are well versed in web design - my background is finance and IT - his is graphics, Flash & web design. I have an eCommerce site that I am trying to get more search-engine friendly and market. I also have ideas for two other sites, have the domain names and hosting in place - just need to build them and get sales copy in place.

I intend to work long, hard hours getting them set up and tweeked, add product and get them marketed. So, action is what I am doing now, perseverance will continue even after success, and dedication - well, I need to live and plan on helping plenty of others, so am truly motivated. So for me, with motivation, comes dedication. I just need to be sure I have the perfect products and learn how to market them to the right people as well as the masses. My goal is to generate in excess of a million dollars profit per year, giving me an average of five thousand dollars proftt, after taxes, per day. With multiple streams, complementing each other and the correct write-offs, this is very feasible.

One of my products is energy (electric & natural gas) - my eCommerce site contains some general merchandise & accessories for sale through my site and eBay and includes a shoppers club - another site for specialized affiliate marketing - another site dedicated to helping people increase their lifespan healthfully and natrually, with access to a team of medical & research specialists. All my sites will contain links to one another with newsletters, discounts, free offers and other helpful information.

I definitely need to check out your information further to see if it can get me going in the right direction.

    Regards,
    Leila

First I must tell you I am interested because YOU are offering to teach me. I am involved in Internet business from almost ten months ago, and I always heard and read about you and your qualification as the number one coach for internet marketing business. That is relevant for generating expectative. But I watched your video Absolutely concentrated. It is a lot of time I did not heard a so convincent, clear and vibrant speech likes your speech.
I made my career in offline marketing and sales and among my goals were I was considered the best trainer in a very important Company working in many countries.
Now I am half retired but even doing business offline and online.
Marketing is something I love, and to be in contact with salespeople and customers is like a vice.
I decided to learn Internet Marketing by myself, and with some conditions: not to use the money earned in other business, not to start selling for others, and not to use my influence or contacts to success or advance in this business.

I do not need to earn any money in Internet to survive; that means I can take my time to learn, and now I feel this is the moment to start really doing business, and to do that, I need to learn from the best teacher, an I think you are the best.
I learned money must not to be an objective; the objective is not also to be better than anyone, but the objective is to do the best I can do. If I can get it, money will follow me as ever did.
One more reason to start learning is to perfection myself to help other people. I come from a country where Internet is right now likes a dream, and many persons have not how to make money to eat with their family. I am not a boy, but I am ready to help people. Thank you for your speech.

    Hello Derek,
I live in the Caribbean, Trinidad & Tobago to be exact. I don’t know of anyone actually making it online in my city except for the brick and mortars that put up a site to be in fashion. Apart from wanting to be a pioneer and maybe someday pass along the knowledge and experience that I hope to acquire, I guess like most folks out there I want better for my family amd myself that simply means giving them better choices in life. I think when a man is strong and has a good mind he can make a sterling contribution to mankind and leave a legacy for his kids and others to follow. My dreams are pretty big - though I’m starting late I believe I have what it takes to succeed. Looking forward to your course and starting and running a successful business online.

    Derek, You’re the Man!

You are so right! Information overload can bring to a halt any type of endeavor. Even though I have invested in Internet businesses which have not panned out, I have not given up. I am a very hard worker, and try to do everything that is shown me. I have a product that I am very interested in promoting, re-packaging, and selling as I don’t see it on the shelves in any stores. It is a totally awesome product. But I need to know how to do it. Even though I have a J.O.B. (jut over broke), I am really dedicated to get this product out to the public.

I also have a product which I have created and is now in patent pending. I have had to hire someone else to market it as I could not figure out how to do it. But I don’t think there is any movement on it and am not sure what to do about that. With your straight-forward instructions and knowledge of Internet Marketing, there is no doubt but that there is truly a light at the end of the tunnel. Your e-tips are invaluable. Thank you for being there for us.

You are right on the money! People are always getting scammed because they want to make a million now. It is just not realistic. I have been using the freedom business system and I have to say that as long as I stay on track most everything else comes through automation! Just because it is automated still doesn’t mean one million tomorrow but I am getting there!

I’m newbie for this kind of industry, INTERNET MARKETING. I knew it 3 months ago, but still very skeptical before joining to any online opportunities. There’s a lot of internet marketers giving a false assurance to people hoping to earn a better income. YES! Your right there’s no such thing as free LUNCH, you have to work HARD before earning BIG BUCKS! I’m reviewing to various forums just to verify the legitimacy of the company. Some companies asking you for membership before giving a job, as far as I know it’s a SCAM! Any companies offering such thing are just fooling people to be RICH! I’m very sorry if I have this kind of impression to this companies. Why not give them a job and get a percentage from the work they did…data entry, surveys! We are asking for a job because we need money not togive them money and making us HOPELESS! I’m a practical person…I want to make things be clarified before taking actions into it.

The bottomline why I’m very interested to know this industry is because I want to change the situation of our life…being born in a poor family, for 23 years or maybe more financially challenged, being dependent for monthly payroll is not enough! In our country, Philippines we are economically in crisis however, our stand should not be based on the situaton but how we make our daily lives worthwhile.

If this is true, give me some information and I want to know about this…I would be grateful then. Mr. Derek, hope to read your reply soon. Thank you very much and more power!

    Hi Derek!

I have attended your 2-day Internet Marketing Seminars, purchased the Internet Marketing home version software and learned a lot from various other sources. Man, when you said “information overload”, you couldn’t have gotten it more correct!

We finally got our new business, OmniTech Enterprises, LLC, started with our first website up and live less than 2 weeks ago and I am struggling to get any business started with it. I don’t even have our main business “.com” site up and running yet… I need to go over the materials again and keep at it. I will persevere and I love the information and tools you all provide. Keep up the good work, and I hope to do business with you again in the future.

    Thanks!

    >So what I’d like to hear from you is, exactly WHY are you interested in
    >starting an online business?

I am a single mom, and have raised 3 of the best kids on the planet, and have
done this by working from home, from the internet. Utilizing the computer and the phone. Incorporating relationship marketing, along with Internet Marketing. This has given me the time freedom to spend any way I want. Time freedom is one step in the direction of financial independence.

    >What do you hope to gain from your Internet business?

Although I have been working from home, it has given me the time freedom, but
not the financial freedom I am looking for. It seems to be a roller coaster ride.
Sales are up, and sales are down. Companies and business partners disapear. It has not been stabIe income. I am looking to gain financial stability. Build it
once, and build it right, so it will supply a stable stream of unlimited income. I know it can be done, others are having great success. I believe once you figure out, and learn a system that works, it will make your life alot easier.

    >What are your goals?
My goals are to be financially independent. If I am financially independent, I will be in a position to do more, be more, have more and give more. I am expecting to have a stable income of $5000 gross per month from my Internet Based Business by Dec. 2008, and excel from there.

  53. Dean on February 13th, 2008 11:58 pm

    Derek,

Thanks for the video! I have some of your material already. I have a website started and have done the research. I believe there is a huge demand for what I am offering and not that many “skilled” people doing it. I have the basics learned about PPC and finding proper keywords to fit the market I am in. I would like to learn as much as I can so as not to waste time making the mistakes others make when not having all the tools and knowledge to get things up and running right the first time.

I would like to have the quality of life to spend with family and have my business automated as much as possible. Although I love doing what I do, worship music!

So I hope your course will help. I am out of a J.O.B now and it’s not looking very good for me right now, so I would like to start generating a cash flow asap!

    Thanks,

    Hi Derek
The future has to be Internet based.I have been in Direct sales for many years dealing with unconfirmed appointments ,traffic jams and long hours . I have realised that there are only so many people I can create desire for ,so am limiting my earning potential and also not allowing my customers from benefiting from my knowledge. Knowledge sells as I hope everyone aspires to make there life or someone elses life better.

    Derek-
Interesting video. It seems you are a straight shooter with a proven track record. My life has gone this way: Didn’t finish college, worked at a collection agency, am working for a small private courier service. I’m 43 years old and I feel like I am sliding off the table, if you know what I mean. I’m tired of driving for a living. So I’ve begun selling on ebay. I’ve found a source of wholesale goods to sell at Internet Speedway. Business in a box? Maybe. They are building my website. I am hoping to stand out by virtue of hard work-dedication-and action mainly through marketing. My goal is to quit my courier job with an internet-based income of $10,000+ per month by Feb 2009. Sign me up for the life long relationship Derek! I need all the help I can get.

I’ve worked with dozens of clients who are always looking for the latest magic bean. They see the amazing success of other internet marketers and think that they can be an overnight sensation. As soon as they realize that there’s actual work involved or the first time their launch or product sales don’t go as expected, they pack it in and give up.

Making money online, like everything else, requires perserverance & persistence. Have a clear vision, take steps toward that vision every day, and don’t give up!

My own goal is to earn passive income to supplement the hours for pay work I do now.

    Hi Derek,

My wife and I want to travel all over t he world with our 3 kids. To make this happen we need to be able to work virtually. With technology today, I know that this is entirely possible. The trick is to learn from the right people to make it happen, with hard and smart work, effectively instead of being busy “trying” to figure out what to do next and how to do it. There is no such thing as “try”. You are either doing it or you’re not. Let’s get a move on.

    Hi Derek,
I am pretty much a homebound senior who was forced to retire prematurely because of a vision impairment. Fortunately, I am able to use my computer with a magnification and screen reading program. I have way too much energy and feel way too viable to sit around idly. So, I have done exactly what you described in your video, i.e., bought into the latest and greatest systems offered. Much of it has been way over my old head or has been bits and pieces that are like parts of different puzzles that of course don’t fit together. It’s like a smorgasbord where everything looks so good you can’t help but try most, the result being an upset stomach. In the case of internet marketing it’s not a stomach ache but, rather a migrane headache! I am hopeful that your course can rally my spirit and give me the whole picture at once and the confidence to overcome my biggest stumbling block - ME!.

My goal is to create a successfil affiliate marketing business that will allow me to be productive in my golden years. If your course can do that then maybe I can compete a little with all the kids out there on the net as I am sure not ready to hang it up.

When it does…. I want to expand to other sites but need more income rite now to try that.

  65. Jack on February 14th, 2008 6:43 pm

    Hi Derek,

Let me say first that the above domain name is registered, but no website has been established yet.
I am an elderly Washington state resident with a longtime educational background who is still hoping to find an intellectually challenging, rewarding profession that will stem a serious loss of real income in my family. In the past fifteen years I have tried various financial product sales ideas, working for other people, and signing on with a variety of MLM and get-rich-quick schemes. None of them has borne fruit. On some of them I have probably given up too quickly; in no case, however, did I find any prospect of enjoying my work or feeling any kind of moral uplift. None of them had any relevance to my previous work or interests.
I believe that an internet merchant business can be a far different proposition. First, because it depends upon me and the hard work and skill which I bring to it. Second, because it does not have to be exploitative or merely moneygrubbing. Third, because it operates within a framework of technological innovation which, as your video clearly shows, is at the cutting edge of knowledge in today’s world. I like the fact that you do not downplay the time required to master your course or the penalties for avoiding its lessons.
Finally, since I admire Brian Tracy, his recommendation of your approach carries considerable weight with me. I am looking forward to taking the course and profiting from it in my future Internet business. Thank you.

    Hi Derek,
I completely agree with you. I already told you once that you are one of the most honest marketers.
My question is about people like me.
Some time ago I applied for your 5 day intensive course not knowing its price.
I wrote that I had only $300 in hand to invest and asked for an exclusive solution.
Then I was contacted by one of your representatives. He asked about how much money I had in hand. I answered - only $300. Then he told me that with such amount of money I could not start a business and he could not help me.
Frankly speaking I am not exactly a newbie. I have been learning Internet Marketing since March 2007. I bought many e-books and products. I invested totally about $12,000 into Internet Marketing coaching and products!
I know how to use AdWords and made about $1500 in 5 month but without a profit. I can build a squeeze page and know how to collect opt-ins. I know the whole roadmap of basic marketing campaigns.
But what I don’t know is how to glue all my knowledge together and how to start a reliable Internet business using all my knowledge (at least $100 per day).
I can do many things very well in some areas of Internet Marketing and can help you with your business in exchange of your giving me the right advices and helping me to establish my profitable business on internet.
That’s all that I have for you to offer. I don’t even have those $300 in hand to invest - only $109K debt and approaching my bankruptcy.
But I have my head, my hands and desire to be successful on the Internet.
I’ve heard many stories about how people went from bankruptcy and became millionaires. I understand that they could not do it themselves alone. Somebody helped them.
So now you have a real example of the person who is approaching bankruptcy.
Why don’t you give me a chance to make another successful story of getting rich on the Internet?
To finish my comment on a positive note I would like to thank you for your efforts and your creative process of building a real honest marketing community.
    Regards,
    Alex (Toronto, Canada).

    Hi Derek,
Many thanks for the video. I’ve been one of your subscribers for some time now, and I appreciate your frank honesty and style.
In the space of a year I have taken myself from a position of having never used a computer, to one where I have built several machines and taught myself the basics of website construction and online business. I have not made any money online as yet, apart from ebay(With the help of your newsletters:)
I will be honest with you now and say I want to take up your great offer for the first month but don’t yet know if I will have the money to continue as things are pretty tough in this moment. ( I had the bailiffs at the door for council tax last week and had to waste a whole day researching my rights on google so I could fight them off!) I certainly will make it a goal to be able to continue with you as it will give me the best chance of success.
My fundamental reason for wanting a business online is freedom to work anywhere in the world I choose and give my children the same choices. Our freedoms in the UK are being eroded at an alarming rate under the pretext of anti terror laws, as they are in the US under the Patriot Act. For this reason there is no choice for me but to succeed online.
If your course can help me achieve this I will be eternally grateful to you.
    Best wishes,
    Andy

foremost and was most interested in helping change the lives of people
    through marketing.

I don’t really see most marketers interested in people first, they are
interested in money while rallying to spiritual marketing as their cause.

My marketing will be to help others like Corey did and now Derek
is now continuing in the honorable and genuine way Corey did. Awesome.

I am trying to find an honest and proven way in which I can help others
who are starting to build a business so they do not get taken advantaged
of and can learn enough to make money while implementing more ideas
to grow their business and help others.

Many people do not know the deception Internet Marketing is based around.
Thankfully Derek is one of those who are honest and should be proud
of himself for following a higher path.

Many people do not have the money to afford big ticket item but
are really hopeful someone can come along and show them something
they can use and put time into which works. It is about changing and helping
    people in they lives.

Then they can be involved in the other wealth creation opportunities
they could not afford in the first place.

It is not right to sell to people who can’t afford your product and deceive them through their hopes and desires. I believe you should help those to learn to make more money by helping them with something they can afford. They will then remember someone who helped them change their life and in turn they will help someone else change their life.

That is real spiritual marketing and I want to change the world through the metaphysical and spiritual empowerment of each of us.

I also learned Corey’s marketing was quite advanced then, and is, still by today’s standards.

Giving is the gift which keeps on Giving.

Remember, God is not a marketer. Unconditional love is free and people still can not afford it.

    Blessings

I have tried several mlm’s, and other online marketing. They have all been as you described, a whole lot of empty promises.

I am presently working 10-12 hours a day often time away from home. This is very hard on my family. I would like to find something that I can do from home, that will generate the income needed to support my family, yet still have me around so that I can watch my children grow up.

Being a newbie as you describe it I am more than willing to put in any effort needed to have a successful online business.

What you have described here it seems like someone is finally telling me the truth. That with work and dedication I can finally create an income while still having some sort of life. Thank you for your honesty. I look forward to learning everything there ist to know to make this work.

    Sincerely:

    D.C.

Everything I read is so informative…but like many of the others I have found that few are willing to really mentor someone for less than thousands of dollars. I have been so disappointed with so many “mentors” that I have felt like giving up…but I have to work from home…there is no other option. So after seeing thousands of dollars being swept away I am still determined to “succeed”…that for me is about $4-5,000/year.
I devour all my instructional e-mails…but just cannot afford anymore ‘learning packets’.
I have purchased tutorials that simply left me with a charge on PayPal…no information ever came! It’s discouraging but if you fellows did it i know a 59 year old can do it!.
All in all I have found that many of the people that offer their services as “mentors” have forgotten the hardships of getting started.
There are many of us that are not greedy, we just want to make a decent income and help others. I have taken so many classes I have lost count, but I can tell you one thing…I have shared the information I received with anyone that was interested. At least someone else was being helped.
I hope I can learn some new things from all the messages I receive…then hopefully I will be able to start earning some income.
    Have a blessed day! Laura

Hi I’ve had the above website for some months but don’t know what to do about it, so
I think your course will be ideal for me. I’ve been online since Sept 2004 but am still at the beginner level with both the internet & computers & I’ve lost thousands of pounds simply because I don’t have a clue as to what I’m doing so this will be the right course for me.

I have yet to see or hear anything that can generate targeted people who are wanting to make money. Since this is not a business…but a cash leveraging activity…I don’t believe there is anything that can help people wanting a solid cash generating system, that is proven over and over again, that is Legal, that is built on Integrity and Character (Lord knows there are hundreds out there that are blab it and grab it). This one has done the homework, spent the time and effort to make sure it is of Integrity.
    Anyway…that’s the challenge.

This will be the third time I have tried to send you this email. I have been disabled for the last 10 years. So far I have survived through esophageal cancer (1998) and on the 9th of November 2006 I suffered two aneurysms to the brain. The doctors told my two daughter, Michelle and Sabrina, I was in a coma and most likely would not recover from it. Today, by the grace of God, I am still here.
What a wonderful gift life is.
Although I am still having problems with my health, I will not allow my life to continue going on this way. After reading about your offer, I felt you just might be the one that has the tools to help me better myself. I do not have a lot when it comes to money. My small pension of 910.00 dollars just isn’t enough to live on, let along hand to others. Sure I could just stay in my bed and vegetate, but I want more in life then just dieing. If what you are selling is above board, I am welling to put the time and effort it will take to succeed. I have looked at hundreds of ads that promise this and that. None has offered me sixty days to proof it. It would be easy for some intelligent Internet guru to take what little I have. I am sure there are many a soul that has lost all they have trying to reach for their dream. Your company policy and the way you are offering your home study course makes me believe you are what you say you are.
Before my cancer I was living the perfect life. I was the single parent of two beautiful little girls, Michelle and Sabrina. I raised Michelle from birth and Sabrina when she turned three years old. Today they are 34 and 35 years old. Before my illness I weighed in at around 200 pounds. Now, if I am lucky, I will weigh in at 135 pounds. My children were and still are my life.
One day back in 1998, I went to swallow a sandwich. I could not swallow it nor get it to come up. I almost died that day from choking. It was one month later in the San Diego VA Hospital that I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. For the next six years I lived in hell. Since I do not have a stomach I have to feed myself by putting fluids into a “J” tube coming out of my side. Then on the evening of November 9th 2006 I fell into a coma inside the Target store in Albany, Oregon. I had just suffered my first aneurysm.
I was rushed from the Albany General hostipal to the VA Hospital in Portland by helicopter. There the Doctors told my girls that my diagnosis was not good and I would probably not awake from the coma. They told Michelle and Sabrina, that If I did come out of the coma, I would not be able to talk and I would be paralyzed.
Right after this I suffered my second brain aneurysm. Michelle and Sabrina told the doctors to go ahead and pull my life support as I had requested in my VA directive. I did not want to live on life support if there was no hope of me living a normak life. The Doctor that had just did my second operation asked Michelle and Sabrina if they wouldn’t give this last operation some time to see how I reacted. It was one week later that I woke up holding my sisters hand.
Why am I telling you this? I want your students to “NEVER GIVE UP”. Life is a wonderful gift. I know what it is to face death and also life. Even though I am better today it has not been easy. After all the doctors did for me, in the end it was up to me what type of life I was going to live. Every day I have to chose how I want to live. Will I allow the pain to rule me? ” NO”! I have chosen not to allow my illness to rule me
This businesson the Internet isn’t going to be easy for me. I already know it is going to hard. I have not been in business for a long time and the learning curve is going to tax me. What this company is offering me is a way to better myself. Just think what my life will be like if I chose not to follow my dream. I may never be able to see this beautiful country. When I have succeeded in my new enterprise, I will be able to hire a driver to take my thirdy five foot diesal motor coach ( which has been in storage)across this wonderful country. I have lived to long in either the hospital or my room. I want to live again. I know if I put my heart to this task there is nothing I cannot achieve.
I want your home study course! It will be, for me, a up hill climb, but I want more in my life then surgeon’s. My mind is racing faster then my legs will carry me. Had you not offered your course this way, I would not be able to sign up. I will work hard. Someday I would like to help others overcome their disabilities. When we cast our bread upon the waters it will return. With all the scams that are out there it feels good to have someone that is trying to help others. Sure you are in this to make money. After reading your literature it would have been easy for you to only offer your course to the rich. If you allow me to be a part of this class I promise to work hard. Believe me, two hundred dollars is a lot of money to me.
    Regards, Laird

I have no business on line. I am afraid to turn any part of my mind toward another buiness other than the one I’m doing now. which is not on the internet. On the other hand, I would like to finish my book or part of it and sell it on the internet. It’s a self help, motivation, encouragement book. Yet, I’m not sure if now is the right time for me to devote any energy toward any other project than what I committed to for 2008, 2009, 2010 selling and building my current business. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks..

I’ve had offline businesses & done well with them in the past, but considering the high price of gas, rent, employees and all the other costs involved in offline businesses, I think it just makes good sense to sell information products online where the costs are minimal. The hard part is the learning curve to get started. I bought Corey Rudl’s & your course in “05 but was so busy in a business at that time and until just recently, that I didn’t have time to study it. I am now doing so, and find it pretty fascinating. My only worry is that it is so old that I will have to “unlearn” everything I’m learning to get started! Looking forward to hearing you tomorrow. 90. North Shore Massage and Bodywork by Milica on February 15th, 2008 10:56 pm

Aloha, everyone. I am a massage therapist, bodyworker and healer in traditional Hawaiian modalities as well as shiatsu. So, my business is face to face, and Internet is for advertising.

Once upon a time, a chiropractor yanked my neck and hurt it very very badly. I went to so many healing practitioners - modern western as well as alternative - and nobody had enough knowledge to fix it. Then I realized how hard it is to find someone who can help, and how lucky my clients are to have me. So, I need to advertise so that people would know. Especially in my town, which is a major tourist destination and thus a lot of my clients are transient.

The main reason why I am doing this as my own business instead of working for someone else is because I love the freedom of owning my own business. Someone really good, like me, usually ends up working solo.

Which does require effort, persistence, and all that, as Derek said.

I already put my own business on-line myself. Check out my web site, http://HumanRemodeling.com. I did all of it, all by myself, without any education.

As Derek said, it is easier and faster to have guidance. I can sign for that :) It took me about 2-3 months of no sleep (working on my business after my day job) and then 4 weeks locked up during this Christmas to get to what you see there, and of course it can use improvement. So, another 2-3 months of no sleep? :) just kidding :) to polish the business to the max.

    Aloha,
    Milica

I am interested in starting an online business because it will help me connect with the most people that could use the ideas/products that i would have, to sell/give to them, to better their lives, and change the world, one person at a time. I want to use the money i generate to create health centers, weekend retreats and travel the world doing health and wealth seminars like the guys at thebestdayever.com . Why arent i doing this already? I need to learn more, only just 6 months ago have i become a raw foodist from listening to guys like marcus rothenkranz. I want to take more courses, and move out of home, being only 20 and making coffee for a job. I am interested in NLP and huna courses, which i would go on immediatley if i had the money, because i know they would provide me with the extra tools that i would need in order to model and apply excellence.

    Hi Derek,

The reason why I want to have an internet business is because I want to reach as many people as possible in the fastest possible way. I know I have something to give to other people and whoever wants to take it is more than welcome to get it. My services/products help enhance people’s lives - to live a life in DIGNITY. Everybody may have and deserves a good life. You just need to know a few simple steps and a specific mind-set in order to attract it. Since I am good in what I do (teaching and coaching people in what to do in order to attract success and wealth) I am a nut in technical things. And there is my hope that I can learn from you what I need to know in that regard.

    Blessings,

    Hi Derek,

Well having been online since the advent of the internet and enjoying various short term success - only to see it die a death as quickly as it gained success, I have decided to return to basics and start from scratch.

Information and grass roots education is the key element to any successful business online or offline and many lose sight of their goals and the reason they started the business as I too have been guilty of in the past. The grass may well look greener on the other side of the fence but it still needs mowing just the same…lol

I am very interested in your revised insider secrets course and am willing to go back to basics and learn how to do things the right way with no short cuts or distractions.

  98. Larry on February 16th, 2008 4:22 am

    Derek,

My reason for wanting to start an internet business is to be able to offer top quality valuable goods and services, at a fair price, and in a totally honest and ethical manner, to as many people as possibe, and in the most efficient way possibleand. I believe that there are far too many “rip off” artists on the internet taking advantage of people seeking solutions to theri problems and quality goods and services. I for one would like to joinn people like yourself, who are honest and ethical, and provide “real value” to their customers.

Having a successful internet business would also give me the flexibility in my life to spend more of my free time doing volunteer and charitable work in my community assisting aged and needy families sufferring for age and health related problems and financial emergencies. I believe one’s highest calling is not just to make a lot of money and live a full and happy life, but to give back to the poor, needy, and sufferring brothers and sisters in our communities and around the world.

  108. Mariette on February 16th, 2008 8:35 am

After working in the corporate world for 28 years I realized that somehow, and with no notice, the world had started spinning the other way around. Yes, I had been taught, (Oh boy and how obedient I was to follow instructions!) that going through College and graduate degrees I was going have the nice retirement I wanted, the wealth I wanted and financial freedom I was after. The reality was that none of that had happened. I had a nice life style but no time freedom and worst, my health was started to pass the bill. What had happened with all that I obediently had done, all the degrees and the hard work? The truth is, as Mr. Kiyosaki states in his books, that being an employee or self employed was never going to give me what I had been looking for for years. I needed to have by own business, leverage my time, create residual income and more so I need to get to the point where money works for me and not me working for money. But here was my first challange, to start a regular business I needed a lot of money, that I did not have, a big overhead, equipment, etc. Therefore I start the adventure of the MLM. With no training and, no support I started in this new industry for me. What do you think happened? Exactly……I made all the possible mistakes a newbie could possibly make with the known results of frustration, anger, money lost, etc. My knowledge of the industry in the belie to belie system and in the online system was below zero. So, started searching for “proven systems”. With no guidance at all, again I made the wrong choices and my money blew between my fingers and my frustration increased. Bottom line, the wrong choices due to my ignorance have taken me to a point where I had to sit down and learn the lesson. I´ve got quite a few skills that I learn through my carreers at the universities and experience in the corporated world, but had no idea what so ever on how to create an online business. Period, and that is the truth. So, as I am committed to do it I have to start with the right foot! The internet is today a tool that can allow me to buid a business and give me exposure to millions, that can help me generate money 24/7, where I can benefit from other economies in the world. I want to be part of it!

    Hello,
I’v been a Remodeling Contractor for almost 30 years. I’v always been involved with each client from the conception of thier projects to the actual final results. It takes a lot of my time, because I’m the one to visit them and buy the materials, help them make all of thier selections from paint colors to cabinets to carpeting etc. Before going on my own, I worked for others in the same fields, even building new homes. Before that, I was a lad on the farm, so hard work has never been something that I shy away from. I also feel that I am the only person in my family to help the rest of my family. I am the proud parent of two children who have, betwwen them 6 children. One of my grandchildren has Spina-Bifida, a debilitating condition that will keep her from walking forever.
In order for me to be able to help her, I need to be able to be in a confortable financial condition myself. I’v been working very hard over the past 9 months or so, but have not realized desired results yet. Hopfully your course will finaly let me break lose. I’m this close ( ) to making money online, but just need some help to push me over the edge. Nine months without results may seem like a long time for some, but I just don’t give up easily. Once I learn how to make money, I’ll be able to increase my abilities each and every day after that.
    Thanks for listening.

If I can get a web sight set up I can make enough money to get the little things in life that count the most, like a truck that won’t make me work on it dead of winter, just to get my shopping done. I’m stuck living in a 1959 28′ travel trailer. I bought in 1983. my wife left me when I got disabled.
it’s tough trying to understand all the things I need to know to get a web sight up and running. I’m not the kind of guy to give up. I’m slowly learning bits and pieces of what a web sight is. what I need is a set of step by step lessons that are foolproof to the finnished product, that won’t put me in the poor house,as I’m at this point living so much in debt I couldn’t get a loan for a lawn mower. My only hope is you and your business. I’ll never give up. still reading all I can get.
Thanks For The Chance For Success

    Hi Derek,
I am interested in a real income generating business online because:
(first) I need to add to my retirement income to maintain or have a better quality of life.
(second) I want to generate more income than I need so I can help other family members in need as well as some charities.
(third) I want to remove the need to work part-time just to pay the bills.
(forth) I want to do some traveling - there’s a lot of the country I’ve never seen and some places around the world I want to visit.
Thanks for offering me this course. I’ve been trying lots of things to make money on line, most of which I do not understand. I’m looking for a simple step-by-step plan to get my business going.

    Hi Derek,
I am interested in starting an online business for a number of reasons. My primary motivation however is family. I have two grandchildren living with me while my children go to college and I would like to balance being their primary caregiver while earning money with a viable business. Something that offers me the flexibility to do both. I understand the potential of the internet and would like to take part in it.

I have tried so many different ideas that did not work out.
I know that i will be an internert business owner but i just
haven’t met the right mentors til now.
I want to open a charity organization for orphans.
I was a missionary to other countries so i know where
i can help out when my income will be good.
I am also an independant type of a person that does not
    like to work for others.
    I like to travel.

    Dear Derek:
I will be retiring the first of June, I have worked 32 years at one company and now I would like to work for myself and be able to still be around home and not committed to a 9 to 5 job or just over broke. And to take another step in my chapter of life.
    Thank You

    hi Derek,

I am in my 40s and a single parent. I would like to spend more time at home with my daughter and my dog and have better quality of life instead of having to leave the house early to go to work, work the 9-5 or 5.30pm and get home late and each day get up do same thing. To have an income I can generate from anywhere.

    Best wishes,
    Thea

I want to get into the business, no matter how hard I got to work, to be free from having to work directly under anyone else, with that in mind I realize that even freedom cost.

I took interest in making a living online when I decided I had enough of the distribution business I had been in for 30 years.

The ability to create information products and market them online for minimal cost was very intriguing.

I also started doing a lot of research and I have on occasion fallen into the next best thing rut.

James Brausch in his blog has stated that one of the most important things I can do to help me take control of my life and my online business is throw my tv out. Haven’t quite gotten that far but I understand what he is trying to tell me.

I have a site that I have been leaning on but I know there is so much more to learn. I also need to learn how to let a project go and start another.

I think the internet is a great place to make a living and I think I am moving in the right direction.

Thanks for the video. I will seriously be considering your new 2008 version on the 19th.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I will no longer be a slave to the 9-5 system. I’m passionate about family and helping others. I believe that I have found my niche market which will enable me to help others and spend more quality time with my family. I just need a little coaching and insight into how to correctly build my online business. I can’t wait!

I want to start a working successful website because I was tired of the rat race in the medical field. I would like to have my own successful website so I would be able to contribute to the family income. Sandra

    Hi Derek,

I am working in the construction industry and currently out of work due to the weather and also the economic downturn in the housing market. After being laid off just before Christmas I felt betrayed by the company I had worked so long and hard for.

I decided I needed to find another source of income that was not so easily affected by external forces. Hard work is not foreign to me, I have always taken pride in working hard.

In my efforts to find a suitable online business, I was talked into buying a “business in a box” by some close friends and relatives. After viewing the video, you pointed out one aspect of this type of business that I had failed to see. It comes with competition already built in. So much for t
